Google Algorithm Change to Impact 35% of Searches

Our friends at Google have made another tweak to their algorithm set to effect 35% of searches. Our team analyse the change and what it means for website owners...

Whats it about?

This latest update is for Google to serve "fresher" results and it set to effect more searches than the recent panda update (which effected roughly 12% of searches).

The update is designed to serve fresher results to searches, meaning content about recent events or "hot topics" will feature more prominently, for example, if the update had been applied before the London Riots, searches for "London Riots" would yield the latest content perhaps only minutes old.

Another example is if your looking for information about the latest model of your favourite car, the latest Google update should return content relating to the latest model rather than a 6 year old model.

Will it effect me?

With 35% of searches affected it is certainly a significant update, Google has long rewarded sites that generate fresh new content regularly so keep your blog posts and news up to date and rewards will certainly come.
